Conveying Experiences Effectively: Narrative Writing
Narratives play an essential role in sharing experiences and lessons. In thoughtfully written narratives, the imagination is stimulated and artistic expression is achieved. Students compose narratives that lure the reader deeper into the story, discovering striking characters, scenes, and interactive detail. Through mimicry and experimentation, students learn to express their stories in an engaging, concise, creative fashion. Their narratives demonstrate understanding of structure, detail, language, and human emotion. As students explore and share their experiences, they come to embrace themselves, not only as writers, but as individuals.
Milestone: Ability to express with fluidity, strength, and engagement in a variety of situations and with a variety of prompts.
