The Essence of Freedom
Life in the New World wasn’t easy—after a treacherous boat ride, new arrivals faced harsh conditions, new diseases, and the threat of starvation every winter. Despite these odds thousands of people head for America in search of religious freedom, riches, and new adventure. Jump into the settlement at Jamestown and try to solve the mystery of the disappearing Roanoke colony. Learn about important leaders like John Smith, William Penn, and Daniel Boone. We’ll see new establishments from the Puritans, Quakers, and Pilgrims and will also see the creation of the abominable slave trade. In this class, we will discuss the important concept of freedom as we watch America begin to take shape.
