Seeing Sand and Sun: Africa
In the 15th century, Henry the Navigator, never destined for the throne, dedicated his life to the exploration of the area below Europe. There, his men discovered that the waters did not boil and fry them and that Africa was much, much larger than ever anticipated. Explore the Western edges of Africa, including Morocco, Burkina Faso, Liberia, and Mali. Follow Mansa Musa, founder of the incredible Mali Empire, as he journeys draped in gold from modern-day Mali to Mecca. Discover the Great Pyramids of Egypt and the history of the Mediterranean Sea, known as the incubator of Western civilization. Morocco’s land sea Erg Chigaga is best traveled by camel; Liberia’s Sapo National Park is best visited with a camera; Mali’s Hand of Fatima is best accompanied by a water bottle; and Burkina Faso’s Grande Mosquée de Bobo-Dioulasso is best seen with an eye of wonder and awe. Are you ready to discover a continent that seemed larger than life?
