Determination
Trumpet of the Swan, by E.B. White:
Like the rest of his family, Louis is a trumpeter swan. But unlike his four brothers and sisters, Louis can't trumpet joyfully. In fact, he can't even make a sound. And since he can't trumpet his love, the beautiful swan Serena pays absolutely no attention to him. Louis tries everything he can think of to win Serena's affection—he even goes to school to learn to read and write. But nothing seems to work. Then his father steals him a real brass trumpet. Is a musical instrument the key to winning Louis his love?
It’s not easy to find love, but it’s also not easy to learn to play the trumpet when you don’t have fingers! Determination, whether it be small or big, is ever-present in Louis's journey as he seeks answers to his problems. You won’t want to miss this wonderful story as we learn from Louis how to find our own determination!

When she was ten years old, she moved to Italy for two years, allowing her to travel the Western coast of Europe. Her opportunities to travel throughout Western Europe didn’t end there, and her passion for and appreciation of the different cultures of the world has led her to hope for a career in international development.
