Beavers Combine Letters: Word Families and Word Ladders

Beavers are right next to humans when it comes to manipulating their environment. With sticks, mud, and grass, beavers create homes; With consonants and vowels, beavers create CVC words, and they keep word families in their lodges. Students will pick out word families and build word ladders, all while gaining confidence with CVC words. Want to join in the fun? We thought you wood!

Ms. Anna Bonney is a student at Southern Virginia University and a teacher at the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center in piano, voice, and ukulele. She’s traveled abroad throughout her life, studying in Italy and Africa. She began to teach Spanish in a homeschool co-op, successfully teaching young students basic sentences and common words. Anna is working to publish an interactive ukulele curriculum, geared towards children of ages as young as four years old. Anna is pursuing Child Psychology and Education at Southern Virginia University.
 
Teaching style: appointments with students, journaling, peer partner learning, research projects, spelling bees
